How to read FII futures and options activity

This page groups recent daily FII activity into four segments: index futures, index options, stock futures and stock options. Each segment's net value is calculated as buy amount minus sell amount. Total F&O Net adds the four segment values; Index Derivatives Net adds index futures and index options; Stock Derivatives Net adds stock futures and stock options. The summary cards show the latest available date in the table.

What do positive and negative net values mean?

A positive net value means the reported buy amount was greater than the sell amount for that segment on that date. A negative value means the reported sell amount was greater. The bullish or bearish label on the table reflects the sign of Total F&O Net only; it is a simple description of the calculation, not a prediction or trading signal.

What these F&O figures include

The data is aggregated by segment and date. Index-segment figures do not identify individual index contracts, and the stock-segment totals do not show which individual shares were traded. Derivative activity can include hedging as well as directional positions, so a net figure alone cannot show an investor's complete strategy.

Use the figures as historical context

Compare several dates and segments rather than relying on a single reading. Options, futures and cash-market data describe different activity and may not move together. Does positive F&O net activity guarantee a market rise?

No. The total is a historical sum of reported segment buy-minus-sell amounts. It does not guarantee future market direction or returns.
